What is your name?
Rosend Peña
Where did you graduate from high school?
Bancroft School
Whether you recently graduated or some time has passed, how does it feel to be a Nativity grad?
Being a Nativity graduate is truly an honor because Nativity itself is such a beautiful and transformative place. It’s not just a school—it’s a community that fosters growth, resilience, and purpose. The values, lessons, and experiences gained at Nativity are rare and powerful, rooted in a mission of creating opportunities and empowering students to reach their fullest potential. The sense of belonging and encouragement you feel there doesn’t end at graduation—it follows you throughout your life.
Where are you going to school or where do you work currently? What is the best thing about attending that school or working in your role so far?
I am going into my last semester at the College of the Holy Cross and will hopefully graduate this coming May!
What did Nativity mean to you when you went here? What does it mean to you now?
When I was at Nativity, it meant opportunity, growth, and belonging. It was a place where I felt seen and supported, where every teacher and staff member believed in my potential, even on the days I doubted myself. Nativity challenged me to push my limits, instilled discipline, and taught me the value of hard work and perseverance. It wasn’t just a school—it was a second family, a community that shaped my character and encouraged me to dream bigger. Now, as I reflect on my time there, Nativity means even more. It represents a foundation that continues to guide me. The lessons I learned—about leadership, resilience, and service—have become core to who I am. Nativity’s mission reminds me of the importance of giving back and uplifting others, just as I was uplifted. It’s a source of pride to know that I am part of such a powerful legacy, and I carry that with me every day. Nativity isn’t just where my journey started—it’s a part of every step I take forward.
What is your favorite Nativity memory?
My favorite Nativity memory has to be Winter Arts Night when I played Harry Potter in the play. The energy in the room was electric, with everyone coming together to celebrate creativity and talent. I still remember the excitement of stepping onto the stage, the warmth of the spotlight, and the cheers from classmates and teachers. It was such a magical moment—literally and figuratively.
What are your goals, dreams, and aspirations? Any accomplishments that you’d like to share?
My current goal is to focus on being the best person I can be, morally and ethically. I want to make choices that align with my values and contribute positively to the people and communities around me. I’m also excited to share that I recently accepted an offer to work at State Street after graduation this May. It feels incredible to have this opportunity, and I’m looking forward to starting this new chapter and continuing to grow both personally and professionally.
What advice would you give to younger Nativity students?
My advice to younger Nativity students is to be a sponge and embrace every experience. Soak in everything your teachers, mentors, and friends have to offer because these moments will shape you in ways you can’t yet imagine. Learn to love learning—not just for grades, but for the joy of discovery and the doors it will open for you. And most importantly, always push yourself beyond your comfort zone, take on challenges, and prove to yourself that you are capable of so much more than you think. Your potential is limitless, and every step you take to challenge yourself will remind you of your worth and help you grow into the person you’re meant to be.
Thank you, Rosend, for being our January Grad of the Month!
