Benefits of the Teaching Fellowship

As a Nativity Teaching Fellow, you are able to wear a lot of hats and truly go above and beyond to benefit our community.

Below you will find the benefits for YOU as you complete this program.

Room & Board

Fellows live together in a furnished community house and share a monthly food budget. Nativity School covers all costs associated with housing and utilities.

Stipends & Insurance

Fellows are provided with personal living stipends – $500 per month for first-year Fellows and $600 per month for second-year Fellows – instead of traditional teacher salaries. Nativity covers 100% of Fellows’ health insurance premiums. In addition, Fellows receive car insurance for school-related transportation.

Loan Deferment

Fellows qualify for deferment or forbearance on their college loans during their time of service via their respective loan service organizations.  Fellows may also receive cancellation of a portion of their Perkins Loans as Nativity School is a qualifying school under the Perkins Loan Low-Income School Cancellation Program (15% canceled for each year of service).

Educational Award

Fellows have previously received an AmeriCorps Educational Award ($6,500 for each year of service – two years maximum).  Now, Nativity Worcester awards each fellow the same amount for each year of service to go toward post-secondary education.

Transportation

The Fellows travel to and from Casa Maria in four school vehicles (three  12-passenger vans and one 15-passenger van). Nativity covers all costs associated with these vehicles including gas, maintenance, and insurance.
