High School Placement and Support

What is High School Placement?

Nativity Worcester is committed to our students’ success beyond their middle school experience. For that reason, we employ a Director of High School Placement and Support. Find all their student resources below as well as details surrounding the high school placement process.

At Nativity Worcester, the High School Placement Process begins during the second half of a student’s 7th grade year and continues through their 8th grade year.

In 7th grade, students attend our High School Preparation class two times per cycle, where they:

  • Explore various high schools in Worcester and throughout Massachusetts, including boarding, trade, private, and public schools
  • Learn about A Better Chance (ABC) program that is a national organization that helps talented young people of color attend boarding schools in the United States
  • Begin the discernment process for choosing their high school
  • Prepare for the Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) to complete their 8th grade year

In 8th grade, students attend our High School Preparation class two times a cycle, where they:

  • Discern which high school will be their best fit
  • Apply to high schools of their choosing
  • Complete the SSAT
  • Prepare for the transition out of Nativity Worcester and into their chosen high school

After-school programing for HS grads run Tuesdays-Thursdays from 3:00pm to 5:00pm at Nativity Worcester. During this time, graduates have access to:

  • Tutoring from local college students (Tuesdays only)
  • Social-emotional support with Ms. Como
  • Academic aid with Ms. Como and Ms. Chataigne for homework
  • A quiet space to do their homework
  • Briggs Gymnasium for recreational activities

Chardin, Ellacuria, Grande, Mveng, and Espinal classes were back in the building for our Grad Day celebration! From photobooths and videogames, to 3 v 3 basketball and scavenger hunts, we were happy to see so many familiar faces and make new memories with our grads.

High School Fair

October 10, 2024

Our Swamy class recently had the opportunity to meet with over 10 schools in the Worcester area and across Massachusetts. From private schools like Bancroft and Saint Johns, to boarding schools like Concord Academy, our students were able to talk to representatives from many different schools!

Upcoming: High School Fair Part Two!

We can’t wait to welcome back more high schools to Nativity Worcester for Swamy to explore. Stay tuned for details!

We appreciate all of our high school partnerships, and we can’t wait to see where Swamy goes!
