We are thrilled to announce the school has received a $3,000,000 campaign gift from a long-time supporter and friend of the school. In recognition of this generous and impactful gift, and in consultation with the anonymous donor, the school’s Boys Division has been named the “Chick Weiss Boys Division” in honor of Chick Weiss.
Chick Weiss is a co-founder and current trustee of Nativity Worcester. He is an Associate Professor Emeritus at The College of the Holy Cross where he spent 41 years as a faculty member of the Department of Psychology and key administrator. Chick has also served on the boards of various non-profit organizations in Worcester.
Nativity Worcester President, Tom McKenney, stated, “Thanks to the incredible gift from a dedicated supporter of our community, we’ll be able to ensure that our students continue to receive a transformative education for years to come. This gift will help us further empower young men and women to reach their full potential and make a lasting, positive impact on the world. McKenney added, “Nativity Worcester would not exist without the tireless efforts of Chick Weiss during its early years, and even today, Chick remains an extraordinary champion for our school. It could not be more fitting that our Boys Division be named after Chick Weiss, who has had a monumental impact on our community and so many young people in Worcester.”
Chick Weiss shared, “I was moved to tears to learn that the Boys Division of Nativity School of Worcester will be named for me . . . While I have been singled out for this honor, I am well aware that there have been so many others who dedicated their efforts and generosity to starting and sustaining this place where miracles happen every day for our middle school boys and girls. The teaching and administrative staff at Nativity Worcester offer an education that enriches not only the lives of these young people, but also the lives of their families and the generations that will follow. I am so proud to be a part of its past success and all the successes that are to come.”
In 2023, Nativity Worcester received a $3,000,000 gift from the J.D. Power Family and Kenrose Kitchen Table Foundation. In recognition of this incredible gift, the Girls Division has been named the “Julie Power Girls Division” in honor of Julie Power. In July 2024, Nativity Worcester, formerly an all-boys school, opened the Julie Power Girls Division, welcoming its first 29 young women. This bold initiative and effort to establish a Girls Division reflected Nativity Worcester’s commitment to expanding access to a life-changing education and to growing its impact. The school’s $20M fundraising campaign, Access & Impact: The Campaign for Nativity School of Worcester, has received support from 2,000 individuals, foundations, and corporations. The campaign’s ongoing success has created the first tuition-free private school for girls in Central Massachusetts and developed new opportunities that ensures all students, both boys and girls, can thrive and form into tomorrow’s leaders. The campaign continues today to further grow Nativity Worcester’s impact and ensure the long-term sustainability of the tuition-free school.
For 22 years, Nativity Worcester has strived to improve its impact each year and provide students with a dynamic, holistic educational experience that enables them to excel. Nativity’s community-centered programming, Jesuit values, small class sizes, co-teaching model, extended school day and year, and individualized approach to education provide students with an opportunity to become their best authentic selves. Nativity’s unique Graduate Support Program ensures long-term success via mentorship, tutoring, and career services through high school, post-secondary education and beyond. The Nativity experience is unlike any other.
