Kevin Dowd

Dr. Kevin Dowd is a Worcester native and graduate of Burncoat Senior High School. He earned a B.A. in history from Harvard University, an M.Ed. in religious education from Boston College, and a Ph.D. in Theology and Education from Boston College. His dissertation was entitled, “Toward a More Perfect Union: Religion and Education in American Public Schools.” Kevin began his teaching career at Mother Cabrini High School in Washington Heights (Manhattan) before moving back to Massachusetts, where he taught at St. Bernard’s Central Catholic High School and in the Sutton Public Schools. Most recently, Kevin was Assistant Professor of Theology at Anna Maria College before its unfortunate closing. He is the author of two books: Teaching Kids to Respect Others: Reflections, Activities, and Prayers on Bullying and Prejudice (2018) and Your Confirmation Bible Companion: What Scripture as “God’s Love Song” Means for You (2020), both published by Twenty-third Publications. Together with a co-author, Dr. Dowd is currently working on a third book about implementing anti-racism in religious education settings. Outside of school, Kevin loves sports, movies, plays/musicals, nature (especially waterfalls), reading, and spending time with his dog Willow.
