Demetrie Romero, a graduate from the Mveng Class of 2021, is our Grad of the Month for September! Demetrie is a proud Nativity graduate and has a lot of good advice for our younger students. Read up on him below!
Where did you graduate from high school?
Bancroft School
Whether you recently graduated or some time has passed, how does it feel to be a Nativity grad?
It’s awesome! Nativity really disciplined me in ways I hadn’t expected to need. Coming from Nativity gives this surreal passion towards success. As a Nativity grad, you enter into a densely talented and successful group of people. I feel a lot of pride being a part of that group, and every day I work hard to find the exultance Nativity set me up for.
Where are you going to school? What is the best thing about attending that school?
I attend WPI! It hasn’t been too long since we’ve started, so for now I have to say all my professors are really cool and understanding. They know they have high expectations, and are willing to do a lot to help you meet them.
What did Nativity mean to you when you went here? What does it mean to you now?
I was an angsty middle schooler so I wasn’t a big fan of anything but video games and hot lunch days. Now it’s a community I love and am so grateful to be a part of.
What is your favorite Nativity memory?
I’ll have to go with Mrs. Bazarian’s wax museum project. I was stressing out the whole way through, but after it was all said and done it was pretty awesome. Plus now I know a lot of facts about Galileo which I’m sure will come in handy some day.
What are your goals, dreams and aspirations? Any accomplishments that you’d like to share?
I dream to be a robotics engineer and hopefully one day work on physical therapy and rehabilitation robots. I’ve already done some research and prototyping on the application of 6 DoF’s on wrist rehab.
What advice would you give to younger Nativity students?
Don’t just focus on studying and getting that A+. Grades are really important, yes, but doing extracurriculars you love, spending time with friends, and getting to know your passions are also important. Build a strong transcript, make space for quality friendships, and above all love yourself.
Thank you, Demetrie, and congrats on being our September Grad of the Month!
