Zyian Rosso: Fearless, Ambitious, and a Nativity Brother
Hi, My name is Zyian Rosso from the 2018 Anchieta Class and I am currently a freshman attending the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. I have recently graduated from Saint John’s High School and opened a new chapter of my life. It has been a massive change of environment in the past couple of months but I have been able to strive in this new environment.
These days I have been studying hard at UMass Amherst where I double major in Managerial Economics and Sociology. I hope to also complete a certificate in Criminal Justices. I have only been at UMass for one semester but I have been able to make the dean’s list and I hope to continue this success.
My favorite Nativity memory was definitely seventh grade adventure bound. It was the first time I ever heard off and went white water rafting. I remember being terrified because the instructor was making it seem like we were going to drown. But thank god I did not let the fear prevent me from going because it was an amazing time and it was extremely special to my life.
Something from Nativity that stuck with me is the work ethnic. In Nativity we received a lot of work and as a student I hated it and the consequences that came with it. If I missed an assignment I would receive a detention. But now as a college student I appreciate my work from Nativity because it is ingrained in me to put my best work forward and complete it on time.
I am excited to dive deeper into my majors next year because it allows me to learn what I want to and develop skills and knowledge allowing me to grow as a person.
A piece of advice I would give to a current student would be to maintain the bonds you have with your Nativity brothers. Without the bond I have with my Nativity brothers, I don’t believe I could have got through High School or even got through the start of college. It is important because having someone you are comfortable with and trust, helps you gain the courage to succeed.
