Launching Access & Impact: The Campaign for Nativity School of Worcester
At 20 years, Nativity School of Worcester is undertaking a historic endeavor and launch of an ambitious $20 million campaign aimed at establishing a Girls Division, ensuring that young women can receive a transformative education. This bold initiative reflects Nativity Worcester’s commitment to expanding access to a life-changing education and to growing its impact. Access & Impact: The Campaign for Nativity School of Worcester will establish the first tuition-free private school for girls in Central Massachusetts and create an opportunity that ensures each student thrives and develops into tomorrow’s leaders.
Nativity Worcester is also pleased to announce a $3,000,000 gift from the J.D. Power Family and Kenrose Kitchen Table Foundation in support of the Campaign. In recognition of this incredibly impactful gift, the Girls Division has been named the “Julie Power Girls Division” in honor of Julie Power. James David Power III and his wife, Julie, founded J.D. Power and Associates in 1968 having become one of the most globally recognized marketing research firms today. Julie was a teacher by training and she volunteered her time to teach English as a second language to children who were immigrants.
Nativity Worcester President, Tom McKenney, stated, “Thanks to the Power Family’s amazing lead gift, and the support of many others who believe in the power of education, we are one step closer to enabling girls to have access to an excellent Nativity Worcester education. We believe that empowering young women will not only ensure these students reach their full potential but enhance our school and positively impact the border community and society.”
The $20 million Campaign marks an unprecedented moment in Nativity Worcester’s history, and we invite friends, supporters, and members of the community to join us in making our vision a reality. Together, we can open doors to new possibilities and create a brighter future for generations to come.
Nativity Worcester launched a “quiet phase” of its Campaign in October 2022 and one year later, at the launch of the public phase of the Campaign, it raised $14 million in gifts and pledges. With the investments of many generous supporters, Nativity Worcester has raised 70% of its $20 million goal, which will develop the Julie Power Girls Division set to open in July 2024. The Campaign also aims to fund scholarships for boys and grow its endowment to ensure the long-term success of all its students and community.
Chris Collins, Co-Chair of Nativity Worcester’s Campaign Committee, said, “The response to the quiet phase of the campaign has far exceeded our expectations. Donors have consistently pointed to the success of the school over the past 20 years as the motivating factor behind their commitment to help us strengthen Nativity’s offerings and most importantly to provide the same opportunities for
young women in Worcester. Our long-held dream of opening a Girls’ Division is now within sight. We are so grateful that both boys and girls from Worcester will now join in the Nativity Worcester promise to educate the whole person.”
For 20 years, Nativity Worcester has strived to improve its impact each year and provide students with a dynamic, holistic educational experience that enables them to excel. Nativity’s community-centered programming, Jesuit values, small class sizes, co-teaching model, extended school day and year, and individualized approach to education provide students with an opportunity to become their best authentic selves. Nativity’s unique Graduate Support Program ensures long-term success via mentorship, tutoring, and career services through high school, post-secondary education and beyond. The Nativity experience is unlike any other.
